About Binks

Binks is a provider of spray, coating and finishing technologies with the brands Binks, DeVilbiss and Ransburg. In the field of electrostatic powder coating (Ransburg by Binks), the portfolio includes powder guns (applicators), automation and control technology, and powder booths. The systems work with electrostatic charging of the powder and grounded, conductive workpieces, and depending on conditions achieve up to 97% reclaim of overspray, color change in 30 seconds via cart or 6–10 minutes per booth, as well as coating thicknesses up to 80 µm in a single-pass booth. In addition, DeVilbiss by Binks offers compressed air treatment with CleanAir inline air filters and Air Control Units (filtration down to 0.01 µm) as well as the DAD-500 adsorption dryer system. Industries served include automotive refinish, general industry, agricultural and construction machinery, architecture, truck/bus/rail, MDF kitchens, electronics, household appliances and medical technology. Locations include Kierspe (Germany) and Balgach (Switzerland) as well as branches in North America, Asia, Australia and Europe.

History

  1. 1936

During the Great Depression, Harold Ransburg develops the 'No. 1 Process' — combining a radiological transformer with a DeVilbiss spray gun — thereby founding electrostatic painting to reduce material waste.

  2. 1998

Binks, DeVilbiss and Ransburg officially merge, forming a global provider of finishing technologies.
