About BIO-FED
BIO-FED is a manufacturer of plastic compounds based in Cologne and part of the international Feddersen Group. The company is a branch of AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH in Niederzissen and has been developing material solutions as alternatives to conventional plastics for more than a decade. The portfolio includes the brands M·VERA® (biodegradable bioplastics), M·BIOBASE® (biomass-balanced or bio-based compounds), M·CYCLOSE® (recyclates from PCR and PIR sources) as well as masterbatches (AF-Eco®, AF-CirColor®). Through the parent company, access is available to state-of-the-art compounding and laboratory facilities, material testing and analytical laboratories, and a processing pilot plant. In addition, BIO-FED offers engineering and consulting services: material selection, custom compound development in its own R&D laboratory, part and tool design, Moldflow and AI-supported simulations, process engineering optimization, LCA and carbon footprint analyses, as well as consulting on regulations such as PPWR and ELV. Materials and Processes
Biodegradable bioplastics
Biodegradable compounds, e.g. certified to EN 13432 (industrial composting) or EN 17033 (soil biodegradability), among others for mulch films.
Biomass-balanced or bio-based compounds (PP, PPC, PLA)
ISCC PLUS-certified compounds based on renewable feedstocks such as plant oils and used oils, some with glass or wood fibers.
Recyclates (rPE, rPP, rABS, rPMMA, rPBT)
Compounds with certified PCR or PIR recyclate content, e.g. rPE from 100% post-consumer material with UBQ filler made from household waste.
Masterbatches
Color and masterbatch solutions, also based on PCR recyclates (partner: AF-COLOR).
