About Biomassehof AG
Biomassehof AG, based in Winterthur, operates two biomass yards for the composting of biomass and the production of substrates for landscaping and horticulture. The range includes BMH tree substrates, perennial substrates, GSZ substrate mixes (A1, A2, B) as well as gravel lawn mixes in buildable-over and non-buildable-over variants. The mixes consist of humus, gravel mixtures, lava, mixed-rock gravel, crushed sand, topsoil (A horizon), screened compost and EBC biochar. Custom substrates are blended to customer specification on request; delivery via the company's own transport department is available upon request. Customers are nurseries, landscaping and green planning companies in Switzerland. The company was founded in 2011, after the nursery land of the company Göldi on the outskirts of Winterthur had been acquired in 2006; in the same year the Sürch composting plant joined, now operated as Biomassehof Winkel.

Mixture of humus 0/20, gravel mixture 0/16 and lava 8/16 for tree pits, perennial planting and planting troughs, water-permeable with a high air-pore volume.
Perennial substrate
Consisting of gravel mixture 0/16, B horizon 0/20, screened compost and EBC biochar for perennial plantings.
GSZ substrate mix A1
Non-buildable-over mix of mixed-rock gravel 16/32 and 8/16, crushed sand, lava, black earth and topsoil.
GSZ substrate mix A2
Non-buildable-over mix of mixed-rock gravel 8/16, crushed sand 1/4, lava 8/16, black earth and topsoil.
GSZ substrate mix B
Buildable-over mix of mixed-rock gravel 64/125 and 32/64, crushed sand, lava, conditioned EBC biochar and black earth.
Tree substrate Winterthur non-buildable-over
Made of topsoil 0/20, black earth, lava 8/16 and grit mixture 0/22, approx. 80 % mineral, for the upper tree pit layer or complete tree pit.
Tree substrate Winterthur buildable-over
Made of EBC biochar and grit mixture 0/22, 100 % mineral and dimensionally stable (compression test 60.0 MN/m²) for the lower layer.
Gravel lawn mix
Mixes e.g. of gravel 16/32, bound gravel mixture 0/16 and humus 0/20 for gravel lawns.
Black earth
Compost decomposition with EBC biochar (70 %/30 %), matured for at least 10 weeks and screened to 0/20.
