About Biomentric
Biomentric is a startup from Munich that develops digital health applications for stress management and the promotion of mental health. Its first application, actiself, accompanies users over six weeks with 42 exercises from behavioral therapy on topics such as stress management, dealing with negative thoughts, sleep hygiene, and behavioral activation. Smartwatches and fitness trackers are integrated to make activities visible, record progress, and provide targeted recommendations; daily questions capture mood and sleep. The company emerged in 2024 from the SMART project at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry, which researched the use of wearables for the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, and was founded by two researchers from the institute with the participation of Max-Planck-Innovation. Biomentric is based at the WERK1 Tech-Startup Incubator in Munich.
