Birke Elektroanlagen GmbH, based in Wunsiedel, is the parent company of the Birke Group, a Bavarian family business founded in 1965 with around 200 employees. The group covers the entire field of electrical engineering – from the power outlet to the medium-voltage switchgear – and additionally offers cross-trade services in plumbing, heating and air conditioning. Core competencies include electrical installation, switchgear construction with planning, programming, visualization and commissioning, control technology based on PLC systems from Siemens, Beckhoff and Wago, IT and network technology, photovoltaics, building automation (smart home and smart commercial) as well as fire alarm systems. Switchgear is engineered using the EPLAN P8 electrical CAE system. Customers include industrial and commercial companies such as MAN, BMW, Kleemann, HAMM, TUBEX, Fresenius Medical Care, EDEKA, medi, NEOPLAN and LAPP Insulators as well as the public sector. Together with six further group companies, the group operates throughout Europe; it has been certified to DIN EN ISO 9001 since 2003 and, in the field of fire alarm systems, to DIN 14675 since 2014. In 2022, a new building of approximately 1,700 m² was completed at the Wunsiedel headquarters to KfW Efficiency Standard 40 Plus.
