Silicone competence from compounding to series production
BIW Isolierstoffe GmbH is a family-owned company based in Ennepetal that has been developing and manufacturing silicone products since 1971 – started as the successor of the Bochumer Isolierstoff-Werke with the production of silicone extrusions in Schwelm. The portfolio includes silicone profiles, hoses, cords, square sections, foam profiles and co-extrusions made of HTV and LSR silicone, silicone molded parts in LSR and HTV injection molding (up to over 2000 g per part), 2K combination solutions with thermoplastics, metal or integrated LEDs as well as textile cable protection systems made of glass silk and pressure hoses with polyester, aramid or stainless steel reinforcement up to 40 bar. In-house compounding allows custom hardnesses, colors and approvals such as FDA, BfR, KTW and W270; an in-house toolmaking and injection molding center as well as a technology center for sampling under real-world conditions round off the value creation. Customers include automotive (Tier-1 and OEM), household appliances, pharmaceutical and medical technology, energy, aviation and rail technology, sanitary, food and electrical industries as well as mechanical and plant engineering. In addition to Ennepetal, BIW produces in Wroclaw (BIW Polska) and Kunshan (China); the sister company BSP Silikon Profile GmbH is based in Iserlohn. Since 2021, the company has been manufacturing chlorine-free.
