BKK B. Braun Aesculap is a company-related company health insurance fund in the legal form of a statutory corporation under public law, headquartered in Melsungen. It came into being on 1 January 2020 from the voluntary merger of BKK Aesculap (founded in 1870 by Gottfried Jetter as a relief fund for the Aesculap works) and BKK B. Braun Melsungen AG (founded in 1923 by Carl Braun). The fund is open to employees of the B. Braun Group and their family members and serves an insured community of more than 29,000 people. With 63 staff, it operates at both the Melsungen and Tuttlingen sites and, in addition to statutory health insurance benefits, offers digital services such as an online branch office, electronic patient record, TeleClinic and Dermanostic, as well as prevention courses and health trips. The budget volume is approx. €106 million.
