BL-Trading GmbH, based in Cologne, is the supplier of the LEAS universal (Lubs Electronic Trailer Stabilization System), a retrofittable electronic stabilization system (trailer ESP/anti-snaking system) for braked trailers up to 3.5 t. The system detects critical driving situations such as snaking or breakaway and stabilizes the vehicle-trailer combination through targeted braking impulses with a reaction time of 0.06 seconds. It is based on a patented spring technology with an actuator motor and spring accumulator, which builds up a constant braking force of approx. 10–15 % independently of the towing vehicle's on-board voltage. The LEAS universal is suitable for all brands and trailer types, including single-axle as well as Twin-Axle/Tandem trailers, and covers caravans, horse trailers, boat trailers and cargo trailers. Installation is limited to four bolted connections and cable routing; when changing trailers, the system can be transferred to a new trailer. The system is approved with a General Operating Permit (ABE KBA91667) from the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt and was tested and recommended by Stiftung Warentest.
