About Black Capture
Black Capture is a company founded in 2023 and based in Wesseling near Cologne that develops and manufactures CO₂ capture (carbon capture) systems for industrial flue gases. The technology is based on ceramic membranes that separate CO₂ from the flue gas in a single separation step; the depleted residual gas is discharged, and the captured CO₂ is available for utilization or storage. The product portfolio ranges from a demonstration unit with a feasibility study and an entry-level unit for approx. 1,000 m³/h flow rate up to full-capture system units, e.g. for 100,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year. The systems are modular, compact and designed in standardized dimensions to reduce initial costs for the customer. Black Capture is vertically integrated and has its own development and manufacturing capacities. Target industries are primarily cement and lime production, the iron and steel industry, chemicals, thermal waste recovery, power plants, glass manufacturing, paper manufacturing, wastewater treatment plants and shipping. Since 2025, the company has been operating a pilot plant with ceramic membranes together with Kalkwerke H. Oetelshofen, Calcis and Bergmann Kalk.
