About BLUE GREEN Systems

BLUE GREEN Systems GmbH, based in Wildeshausen, develops the adaptive characteristic-map controller (amc), a self-learning controller for dynamically setting the oxygen setpoint in the activated sludge process of wastewater treatment plants. The method is based on research work at the Institute of Automation Technology at the University of Bremen. The amc calculates an optimal oxygen setpoint in real time from influent volume, NH4 measured values and wastewater temperature, detects rainfall events and caps ammonium peaks. It operates autonomously on an industrial PC (Phoenix Contact BOX-PC) in the process level, requires no internet connection and no historical data, and can be integrated via standard interfaces such as S7/PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP and BACnet. Installation and commissioning typically takes one to two days. The controller is in operation at municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, including the Oldenburg plant (~210,000 PE, around 10% energy savings) and Seehausen (hanseWasser Bremen, ~1,000,000 PE, 40–50% NH4 peak reduction).
