About Blue Phoenix
Blue Phoenix Deutschland GmbH is the German regional company of the Blue Phoenix Group, an internationally active raw material and recycling company based in Rotterdam. The company processes complex waste streams such as incinerator bottom ash (IBA), construction and demolition waste, surplus soil, tar-containing asphalt, roofing felt, and filter dust. Certified substitute construction materials (including HMVA-2 slag 0/32 mm as frost protection layer) as well as ferrous and non-ferrous metals like aluminum, copper, brass, zinc, and stainless steel are recovered from the incinerator ash through processing, washing, and metal sorting. Approximately 140,000 t of input are processed annually in three metal recovery plants. In Denmark, the group operates 18 receiving and processing plants with more than 375,000 t of slag processed per year, treating about a third of the Danish construction and demolition waste. In Germany, operating sites are located in Krefeld (Regional Head Office), Schwandorf, Würzburg, and Hagen. Buyers of the secondary construction materials include road construction, earthworks, concrete and asphalt industry, and plaster processing.

History

The Netherlands prohibits the landfilling of concrete and brick demolition – the beginning of mineral construction material recycling, which Blue Phoenix operates on an industrial scale today.
QR Metals became active as a pioneer in metal recycling from combustion slag (now Blue Phoenix Metals).
Blue Phoenix in Denmark previously operated under the name RGS Nordic.
