About BOKELA
BOKELA GmbH, headquartered in Karlsruhe, is a company founded in 1986 as a spin-off of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) that specializes in filter systems for mechanical solid/liquid separation. The product range includes continuous vacuum disc, drum and pan filters (BoVac), hyperbaric pressure filters with filter areas up to 352 m² and operating pressures up to 7 bar (BoHiBar), as well as crossflow filtration plants and micro-sieve systems (BoCross) for particles down to 0.01 µm. In addition, the company offers laboratory filters (BoFilTest, BoCrossTest) for process design, services such as commissioning, maintenance, spare parts, and the conversion and modernization of existing filter systems (Filter Revamping). Fields of application are primarily mining and open-pit mining, with the filtration of ore and mineral concentrates as well as tailings for dry stacking and paste minefill, alongside chemicals, pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, petrochemicals and the food industry. Since 2018, BOKELA has been wholly owned by Japan's Tsukishima Kikai Co., Ltd. (Tsukishima Holdings) and operates a branch in Australia, Bokela Australia Pty Ltd.

Technologies and Processes
Vacuum filtration (disc, drum and pan filters)
Continuous cake-forming filtration with filter areas of 1 to 352 m² for ores, minerals and chemical products.
Pressure filtration / hyperbaric filtration
Continuous pressure filtration up to 7 bar (a) for low residual moisture in ores, minerals and pharmaceutical precursors.
Dynamic crossflow filtration
Separation and washing of solids down to 0.01 µm with micro- and ultrafiltration membranes and metallic filter media.
Crossflow micro-sieve system
Classification and solids separation with metallic filter media.
Laboratory filter for design purposes
Small-scale design tests in accordance with VDI Guideline 2762 Part 2 for determining filter cake resistance.
