About Boosey & Hawkes

Boosey & Hawkes is a specialized classical music publisher based in London. The company was formed in 1930 from the merger of Boosey & Company (founded in the 1760s) and Hawkes & Son (founded 1865). Until 2003, alongside its publishing activity, the company also ran its own musical instrument manufacturing, which was sold off; since then, the company has focused exclusively on music publishing. Its repertoire includes works by composers such as Stravinsky, Copland, Britten, Bartók, Shostakovich and Prokofiev, as well as contracts with contemporary composers. Its services include licensing and rental of score material for performances, recordings and broadcasting, licensing for film, TV and advertising, distribution of sheet music (print and digital), and copyright and royalty management. In addition to London, there are offices in New York and Berlin (Boosey & Hawkes Bote & Bock GmbH), which serves the German-speaking market. Since 2017, Boosey & Hawkes has belonged to the Concord group.
