About the Brewery
The Brasserie de l'Abbaye de St-Maurice is a brewery founded in 2019 by the Abbey of Saint-Maurice in the canton of Valais to diversify the abbey's revenue. The brewery is wholly owned by the abbey and produces three beer varieties: LUMEN (light beer, 3.9% vol.), CANDIDE (wheat beer) and DXV (abbey triple). The beers are brewed unfiltered and non-pasteurized from water, barley malt, hops and yeast, as well as partly wheat and oats. The yeast comes from a parchment of the abbey dating from 1319. The recipes draw on the abbey's more than 1500-year history, having been founded in 515 by the Burgundian king Sigismund. The products are available via the brewery's own online shop; tastings, gift boxes and a newsletter are also offered.
