About Brauerei Ganter
Brauerei Ganter is a family brewery founded in 1865 in Freiburg im Breisgau. Ludwig "Louis" Ganter took over the brewery in the house Zum Kindlein Jesu on Schiffstraße and in 1877 acquired the site of the Old Oil Mill in Freiburg's Oberau district, where the brewery still stands today. The water for the beer specialties is drawn from the company's own deep wells. The brewery produces Pilsner, wheat beer, Urtrunk, Hell, Export and dark beers as well as non-alcoholic variants, predominantly in kegs for the gastronomy sector, alongside bottle filling. Around 500 taverns are supplied and 50 others are leased out; in 2023 output was 80,000 hl at a capacity of 100,000 hl/year, corresponding to a market share of 6% in Freiburg. Since 2002, the brewery has operated the brewery tavern on Münsterplatz in the Haus zum Roten Eber, which is run by Schlegel Gastronomie GmbH. The company is a member of the Economic Association of Industrial Enterprises Baden (Wirtschaftsverband Industrieller Unternehmen Baden) and of the association Die Freien Brauer.
