About Brauerei Gundel
Brauerei Gundel GmbH is a family-run small brewery in Barthelmesaurach in the Franconian Aurach valley. The brewing site was first registered in 1602 as 'Brauerei zur Krone'; in 1887 Konrad Gundel acquired the brewery, which has been owned by the Gundel family ever since. In the 5th generation, master brewer Jörg Gundel brews a typically Franconian range of beers, including Helles, Pils, Dunkles Gold, Zwickel-Bier, Radler as well as seasonal speciality beers such as Fastenbock, Weihnachtsbier and Weihnachtsbock. Brewing uses regional ingredients, including water from the brewery's own well in the Aurach valley, hops, malt and yeast, combined with modern technology and a traditional recipe. More than 90 percent of total output is sold through direct marketing, complemented by a beverage market, an online shop, brewing courses and brewery tours. The brewery's operating philosophy is 'quality over quantity'.
