The Brewery
Brauerei Maisach is a listed country brewery in Maisach in Upper Bavaria, in the Fürstenfeldbruck district, about 25 kilometres west of Munich. It was founded in 1556 by Hans Schauer with the permission of the Abbot of Ettal Abbey and has been run by the Sedlmayr family since 1907. Handcrafted Bavarian beers are brewed according to traditional recipes, including Maisacher Perle (Export beer), a hefe-trübe (yeast-cloudy) cellar beer, the dark Räuber Kneißl made from four varieties of barley malt, and the alcohol-free Freibier. The ingredients include hops from the Hallertau and malt from the region. The brewery features listed technical equipment, including the copper brewhouse kettle from 1901 and the grist mill from 1925, both of which are still in operation. Since June 2024, business operations have been led by Umberto Freiherr von Beck-Peccoz as part of a cooperation with the Kühbach brewery, securing the Maisach brewing site. The offering also includes brewery tours and brewery festivals.
