About the Schwechat Brewery
The Schwechat Brewery in Schwechat, Austria, is the birthplace of the Schwechater Bier beer brand and dates back to its founding in 1632. Around 800,000 hl of beer are brewed annually. Well-known brands include Schwechater Lager, Zwickl, Wiener Lager and an alcohol-free beer. Historically, the Dreher family shaped the development of the brewery: Anton Dreher senior switched to bottom fermentation in 1839 and made lager beer a success. Since 1978, the brewery has belonged to Brau Union Österreich AG and thus to the Heineken group. In addition to beer production, the company offers brewery tours, acts as an event partner and operates an online shop.
