About Brennholzwerk Trier

Brennholzwerk Trier in Trierweiler produces and sells kiln-dried firewood from domestic forests. Hardwoods such as beech and oak as well as softwood and mixed hardwood are sourced 100% from forestry offices of the region in the Eifel and Hunsrück. The freshly delivered logs are cleaned, cut to length, split into log lengths of 20 to 45 cm and dried in two drying chambers within 5–7 days to a residual moisture content of approx. 20%. The drying is powered by an energy network comprising photovoltaics on the hall roofs, a combined heat and power plant operated on residual wood chips and waste heat from a neighbouring business; around 2,500 MWh of electricity are generated annually. The product range includes loose bulk wood and palletized goods, kindling wood, RUF wood briquettes and wood chips. Customers are private households and fireplace owners in the Moselle region; the plant also cooperates in the energy network with the neighbouring carpentry business Holzbau Henz. Since 2023, the company has also been operating two public e-car fast charging stations with its own self-produced green electricity.
