BREUER BONO is an Austrian shelving label based in Graz dedicated to the development and production of objects relating to books. All products in the collection are designed exclusively by founder Martin Breuer-Bono and manufactured in local small-series production from carefully selected materials. The value chain covers design and engineering, production, assembly, and logistics and shipping; via its own online shop and a dealer network, customers in more than 20 countries are supplied, including Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark and the USA. The collection comprises the shelves SCHLAGSEITE, OPEN, EIGER and ADONIS. From 2026, a new, larger company headquarters in Graz will bring studio, production and office under one roof.

History

1. 1994

   Martin Breuer-Bono graduates from the Royal College of Art in London (Industrial Design Engineering) and begins working as a self-employed product designer in Austria

2. 2013

   Retrospective “Martin Breuer-Bono” at the Kunsthaus Graz; start of the path as a furniture designer

3. 2014

   Presentation of first furniture at Blickfang, MAK Vienna; unofficial launch of the BREUER BONO brand

4. 2015

   First international trade fair presence at imm Cologne with the SCHLAGSEITE shelf; production by cabinetmaker Hermann Deutscher in Pischelsdorf, Styria; shortlist for the State Design Prize

5. 2016

   Shortlist exhibition of the State Design Prize tours design centres in Germany, Italy, France and Estonia

6. 2018

   Presentation of the second shelf OPEN at imm Cologne; it becomes a bestseller

7. 2019

   First order to the USA (New York); dealer network grows, especially in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands

8. 2020

   Launch of the company's own online shop

9. 2025

   New shelves EIGER and ADONIS added to the collection; ADONIS wins the BIG SEE Design Award

10. 2026

    New, larger company headquarters in Graz: studio, production and office under one roof; sons Emil and Paul join the company
