About Brevillier Urban & Sachs
Brevillier Urban & Sachs is an Austrian manufacturer of writing, drawing and office products headquartered in Vienna with production in Hirm (Burgenland) and Graz. The product portfolio comprises pencils, colored pencils, wax crayons, paints and office supplies such as staplers, which are distributed worldwide under the brands JOLLY, SAX, Brevillier's Cretacolor and BIBA. The stationery production dates back to 1863, when pencils were first produced as part of what was then a screw factory. In 1925, the Zeus Bleistiftfabrik AG was acquired and production was concentrated at the Zeus plant in Graz-Gösting; the early 20th century was characterized by up to 5,000 employees of the group, which was oriented overall towards metal goods and screws. After the insolvency of the entire company in 1983, the stationery division was continued as an independent company, and in 2007 it merged with the office supplies manufacturer Heinrich Sachs KG to form today's Brevillier Urban & Sachs GmbH & Co KG. The formulations of pencils, wax crayons and paints were adapted in line with revised requirements of the Toy Safety Regulation.
