About Brouwerij Huyghe
Brouwerij Huyghe is a family-owned brewery in Melle near Ghent, whose brewing tradition at the Appelhoek site dates back to 1654. Since Léon Huyghe joined the local brewery in 1904 and the company was officially renamed Brouwerij L. Huyghe in 1925, the brewery has been run in its fourth generation by Alain De Laet. Production covers a broad range of beer specialties, including the internationally renowned brand Delirium Tremens with its elephant logo dating from 1989, as well as other brands such as Gouden Carolus, Floris, Mongozo, Artevelde, La Guillotine, Camps, Villers and Blanc des Neiges. Capacity is 4,000 hectolitres per week, filled into around 680,000 bottles and 11,000 kegs weekly. Since 2008, 32 million euros have been invested in sustainability and quality, enabling savings of 95,800 m³ of water, 231,400 kWh of electricity and 5,240 tonnes of CO₂. The brewery offers tours and in 2026 was named best Belgian brewery in Frankfurt and won in London for Gouden Carolus Whisky Infused Blond.
