About BSS High Voltage Technology
BSS Hochspannungstechnik GmbH develops and produces partial discharge monitoring systems, UHF sensor technology, calibrators, and individual measuring technology for power transformers, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), and other electrical energy supply equipment. The product portfolio includes multisensor monitoring systems (PDM-600, PDM-600-Mobile, PDM-80), UHF sensors for retrofitting oil separators, electrical sensors according to IEC 60270, acoustic sensors, as well as signal generators and accessories. In addition to product manufacturing, the company offers diagnostic TE measurements and TE localization in the test field and on site, consulting, training, and the development of customized measurement chains from sensor technology to cloud applications. BSS was founded in 2013 as a spin-off from the Institute for Energy Transmission and High Voltage Technology (IEH) at the University of Stuttgart and maintains this scientific exchange to this day. Development and manufacturing take place in the Stuttgart region; the final assembly of every device is carried out manually with individual end-of-line testing. Customers include power suppliers, grid operators, municipal utilities, industrial companies, and transformer manufacturers worldwide.

Measurement Technology & Procedures
UHF Partial Discharge Measurement (300 MHz – 3 GHz)
Electromagnetic TE detection with high interference immunity, installed via oil separators or dielectric windows.
Electrical TE Measurement (charge-based, pC)
Established industry standard for test field measurements and Factory Acceptance Tests via the test connection terminal.
Acoustic TE Measurement (Ultrasound)
Non-intrusive detection with piezoelectric sensors on the tank, suitable for TE localization.
Transient Earth Voltage (TEV) Measurement
TE measurement on MS switchgear without electrical connection to the equipment.
TE Measurement with High-Frequency Current Clamps
Partial discharge detection on cable terminations and cable systems.
Power Quality Measurement (PQM-800)
8-channel analysis of voltages and currents with harmonics up to 500 kHz and up to 4 TB storage.
DC Point Current Measurement
Permanent capture of parasitic DC currents at the grounded neutral point of power transformers.
Vibration Monitoring
Mechanical condition monitoring of power transformers, including detection of DC interference currents.
