About Budweiser Budvar
Budějovický Budvar n.p. is a brewery founded in 1895 and headquartered in České Budějovice (Budweis) in southern Bohemia. The company brews beer in the original Budweiser style; in 2024, 1.928 million hl of beer were produced. Budweiser Budvar is the most exported Czech beer brand and is exported to more than 60 countries. The brewery uses four ingredients: whole Saaz hop cones, Moravian malt, the company's own lager yeast, and soft water from an Ice Age aquifer around 300 metres below the brewery site. The beer is traditionally matured and stored in cellars (cellaring). The brewery is owned by the Czech Republic and accordingly advertises with 'Owned by the Czech Republic'. Import and marketing in Germany are handled by the subsidiary based in Erfurt; in Austria, import is carried out by Kolarik & Leeb. The company site features its own museum.
