About Buderus Edelstahl
Buderus Edelstahl GmbH, based in Wetzlar, Hesse, has been producing high-quality specialty steels "made in Germany" since 1731 and is part of the GMH Group. The product portfolio comprises forged bar steel made of engineering specialty steel, tool steel as forging blocks – sawn, pre-machined or further machined according to customer requirements – as well as strip steel, including stainless steel with thicknesses starting below 1 mm. The range extends to forged parts with a unit weight of more than 70 tonnes. The steels are used in automotive and drive technology, in plant and mechanical engineering, and in tool and die making, for example in plastic molds for the automotive industry, in marine gearboxes, in generator shafts of power plants and in kitchen knives. As part of the GMH Group's secondary steel route, steel scrap is used as the most important input material, whereby recycled material is fed into the production process. An in-house testing laboratory performs all classical material tests on metallic materials according to national and international standards.

Materials & Processes
Engineering specialty steel (forged bar steel)
Reliable materials for highly stressed components with controlled metallurgical quality.
Tool steel
Used for forging blocks and mold tools in plastics processing as well as in die-casting molds and die making.
Stainless steel (strip steel)
Strip steel with thicknesses starting below 1 mm, among other things for kitchen knives and corrosion-resistant components.
C45 (1.0503)
Reference material for the PCF calculation of the GMH Group's crude continuous cast products.
Steel scrap (secondary steel route)
Most important input material of the company's own crude steel production, in order to return recycled material to production.
