Büder + Menzel Architekten BDA is an architecture firm founded in Cologne in 1993 and led since 1996 by Kai Büder and Manfred Menzel. Its range of services covers the planning and realization of building projects across all HOAI service phases, from architectural competitions and urban planning studies, framework planning and urban renewal to the refurbishment and extension of existing buildings, including listed heritage structures. The building tasks handled include schools, cultural buildings, residential and commercial buildings, transport infrastructure, high-rise buildings and public buildings. Realized projects include the design of Breslauer Platz and the underground light rail station Breslauer Platz/Hauptbahnhof in Cologne, as well as the Philharmonie Essen and the Mercatorhalle Duisburg. The firm works holistically and with a forward-looking approach on design- and ecology-oriented solutions for private, public, commercial and institutional clients. Since 2015, the offices have operated as independent practices in Cologne (Rösrather Straße 636) and Brühl (Auguste-Viktoria-Straße 32).
