About Bührer Traktorenfabrik AG
Bührer Traktorenfabrik AG is a Swiss company based in Hinwil in the canton of Zurich. The company was founded in 1929 by Fritz Bührer and built its own tractors until 1978, which became known above all for their transmission technology – such as the Triplex transmission patented in 1953 and the Tractospeed easy-shift transmission introduced in 1965. At its peak, the company employed around 300 staff and produced approximately 1200 tractors per year; around 7000 units of the Spezial series were built. In 1973 Fritz Bührer sold the company to the Rapid Group in Dietikon, and in 1978 the production of its own tractors was discontinued. Today's service offering comprises service, repairs as well as modifications and conversions of Bührer tractors and agricultural machinery of all makes at the Hinwil site.
