About Bullenschluck Manufaktur
The Bullenschluck Manufaktur in Sulingen produces the herbal bitter liqueur of the same name with 43 % vol. alcohol. Bullenschluck was developed and first produced in 1949 by the pharmacist Hans Dunker at the former Rats-Apotheke, whose location in a half-timbered house on Lange Straße dates back to 1788. The recipe with ingredients such as cinnamon, ginger, dried orange peel and juniper berries has remained unchanged since 1949 and remains a secret of the Dunker family; artificial flavourings, colourings and preservatives are avoided. Production is carried out by hand, and bottling also takes place at the Sulingen site. In 2011, the former Ratsapotheke was renamed “Bullenschluck Manufaktur”; since then, only Bullenschluck and merchandise articles have been sold there. In 2013, 80,000 to 89,000 bottles (0.7 l) were sold annually, with the main sales area being northern Germany, along with orders also from southern Germany, the USA, Denmark, Switzerland and Italy.
