About BUND Thüringen
The BUND for Environmental and Nature Conservation Germany (BUND), Thuringia State Association e. V., is a non-profit environmental and nature conservation association with its headquarters in Erfurt. The association was founded in 1990 as a state association and carries out nature conservation projects, environmental education offers, and public and campaign work. A focus is the management of the Natura 2000 Sites Competence Center, which has been coordinating the network of the twelve Thuringia Natura 2000 sites since 2016, providing continuing education for employees, and organizing expert events. Other subject areas include forest and species protection (including wildcat, lynx, garden dormouse), water protection, energy transition, and the campaign against gypsum karst mining in the Southern Harz. The association uses its right of association lawsuits and works with district groups, partners such as the David Nature Foundation, and international organizations.
