About Burgmaier
Since 1931, the Burgmaier Group has manufactured high-precision, ready-to-install precision parts made of steel and aluminium, both from bar stock and from cast or forged blanks. The core competence lies in turning technology: CNC and cam-controlled six- and eight-spindle automatic lathes (spindle through-hole 5 to 73 mm) serve medium and large-volume series, while CNC single-spindle automatic lathes handle small series – machines in use include turning machines from Gildemeister, INDEX, Schütte and Tornos. The service spectrum covers short and long turning, milling, 5-axis machining, gear hobbing, deep-hole drilling, hard machining (grinding, honing, lapping), deburring, marking as well as automation with integrated inspection units. Heat treatment and surface treatment are performed by external partners. Customers come mainly from the automotive industry (among others electric power steering, hybridization, camshaft phasing, transmissions, brakes, electric motors) and from the electrical industry, and are supplied worldwide. The Group employs more than 800 staff at production sites in Laupheim (DE) and Banská Bystrica (SK).

Materials and Processes
Chromium-nickel steels
Used for corrosion-exposed, ready-to-install precision parts.
Stainless and acid-resistant steels
For components with high requirements for corrosion and acid resistance.
Case-hardening steels
For hardened, wear-exposed precision parts such as shafts and gears.
Steels for through hardening (tempering steels)
For dynamically loaded components in automotive engineering.
Aluminium
For lightweight precision parts, also with hard anodizing as surface treatment.
Cast and forged blanks
Machining of purchased cast and forged blanks through to the ready-to-install part.

Quality and Certification
Production is statistically monitored (SPC), the parts are inspected 100% and tested in the laboratory for technical cleanliness. 2D/3D optical measuring machines, form testers, Perthometers and white-light interferometers are used, as well as eddy-current, magnetic-particle and ultrasonic testing.
