Carl Friederichs GmbH is a coachbuilding company and manufacturer of special-purpose vehicles in Frankfurt am Main, whose origins go back to a carriage manufactory founded in 1840. The core business is the custom manufacture of civilian armoured special-protection vehicles and armoured limousines, cash-in-transit and valuables transporters, blue-light and emergency vehicles, ambulances, minibuses, laboratory vehicles as well as fire brigade, municipal and airfield vehicles. The vehicles are predominantly built to order for export, among others on the basis of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. In addition to new vehicle construction, the company operates two facilities for accident repair and painting of passenger cars, trucks, buses and special-purpose vehicles, including aluminium and glass repair; as a Tesla-certified accident repair centre, Tesla vehicles are also repaired according to manufacturer specifications. The company is certified to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and is a EUROGARANT specialist business. It is owned by the Heinz and Gisela Friederichs Foundation, which promotes art, culture and young talent in coachbuilding.

History
- 1840
On 1 July 1840, Heinrich Ludwig Friederichs founds a carriage manufacturing business on Große Bockenheimer Straße in Frankfurt.
- 1900
The sons Heinrich and Rudolf Friederichs take over management and focus on automobile bodies; Heinrich Friederichs receives the first German patent for a convertible body, and the company becomes a purveyor to the Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
- bis 1939
Bodies for passenger cars on chassis from Maybach, Benz, Daimler, Packard, Adlerwerke, Horch and LaSalle; commercial vehicle body construction begins even before the war.
- 1991
Founding of the Heinz and Gisela Friederichs Foundation, which since then has been the sole shareholder of Carl Friederichs GmbH.
