About Cathaia International
Cathaia International GmbH & Co. KG is an internationally active company specializing in the fast-growing timber species Paulownia (empress tree). The company develops and operates Paulownia plantations in Europe, Africa and Central America and covers the entire value chain: its own propagation and production of seedlings, planning and establishment of plantations, support throughout the entire life cycle through to harvest, as well as trading in high-quality Paulownia seeds and Paulownia wood. The seedlings for the European market come entirely from German production; species and varieties used include Shan Tong, elongata, tomentosa and catalpifolia. Paulownia wood is used as a premium hardwood among other things in furniture making, musical instrument making, as well as boat and aircraft construction, and is also suitable for short-rotation plantations for biomass production. Administration and production site are located in Holm (Schleswig-Holstein). The company cooperates with agriculture, forestry and the timber industry, authorities and research institutions, including the Chinese Paulownia Research Center (CPRC) in Zhengzhou.
