Engineering for energy technology and turbomachinery
ClinX Energy Systems is an engineering company headquartered in Berlin with a site in Cottbus that has been developing energy technology and turbomachinery since 2012. The company develops micro gas turbines and turbogenerators from 5 kW to 1 MW electrical – with combustion chamber or externally fired – as well as their components: radial and axial compressors and turbines, foil air bearings, high-speed generators up to 100,000 min⁻¹ with power electronics and control, burners and combustion chambers for hydrogen, low-calorific gases and special fuels, as well as high-temperature heat exchangers. Design is carried out using in-house tools for cycle analysis, CFD, FEM and rotordynamics and is correlated with measured data from in-house test benches. Bearing foils are machined, heat-treated and coated in-house; additively manufactured burners save weight and installation space. In the company's own workshop and on test benches in Cottbus, turbogroups are assembled and tested with tolerances in the micrometre range. Manufacturing is done with qualified partners from the region. Customers are manufacturers, plant engineers and research institutions; in cooperation with pyropower GmbH, systems for wood residues and industrial waste heat are created. The team's roots lie at the Chair of Combustion Engines and Aircraft Propulsion at BTU Cottbus.

Quality assurance and testing
Every design assumption is correlated with measured data from in-house test benches. Before delivery, foil bearings undergo Lift-Off, Airborne and acceptance run tests; power electronics is tested under load, and turbogroups are assembled with tolerances in the micrometre range and tested on complete micro gas turbine test benches.
