About Cook Medical

Cook Medical develops, manufactures and distributes a portfolio of minimally invasive medical devices for healthcare systems worldwide. The family business, founded in 1963 by Bill and Gayle Cook in Bloomington, Indiana, initially produced the first US-manufactured percutaneous guidewires and catheters based on the Seldinger technique. Today the product range includes guidewires, catheters, needles, sheath sets, endoscopy devices, stents, vena cava filters as well as capital equipment such as holmium and thulium laser systems for urology. Manufacturing uses, among other materials, stainless steel; the products cover nearly 60 clinical specialties across the Vascular and MedSurg divisions. The global corporate headquarters is located in Bloomington; the European manufacturing and research center is Limerick in Ireland, with additional production sites including Denmark, the USA and Australia.
