About Coolar

Coolar UG is a Berlin-based cleantech company that develops off-grid cooling systems. Its core product is a medical refrigerator based on an adsorption refrigeration process using silica gel and water in a vacuum system, powered by heat at around 60 °C from solar thermal energy, district heat from combined heat and power, or waste heat. The main target application is the reliable cooling of vaccines and medicines in regions without a stable power grid; energy is stored in insulated hot water tanks rather than batteries. The system operates without harmful refrigerants and lubricants, without batteries, and without moving wear parts. In addition, Coolar offers the Camping Cold Box, a battery-free mobile cool box. The company was founded in 2016 and is registered at the Charlottenburg Local Court under HRB 178139 B.
