About Coolride

Coolride develops and manufactures handlebar heating systems for motorcycles in which solid heating cartridges (26 watts each) are invisibly inserted and bonded into the handlebar ends – the cables run inside the handlebar. The basis is the 8th generation of heating cartridges with CNC-turned solid brass sleeves and FEP-insulated connecting wires. The product range includes proprietary electronic power controllers (PCU-5, PCU-5TC with temperature compensation), electronic load relays, individual and spare parts as well as installation materials. The systems are available in eleven sizes for handlebar diameters of 14–22 mm, are waterproof to IP67 and come with a 5-year warranty. The manufactory originated in 2002 from a sole proprietorship, from 2010 as Coolride GmbH in Solingen; since 01.04.2023 the brand has belonged to Smart Media Electronics / ANS Kabeltechnik in Düren. Distribution is via specialist retail, the online shop and over 330 partner workshops in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Materials & Processes

CuZn

Brass

Material of the CNC-turned heating cartridge sleeves and threaded inserts; the heavy mass serves vibration damping.

Cu

Copper

Earlier sleeve material of the heating cartridges (until 2006).

FEP

FEP-insulated connecting wires

Cold-flexible down to -100 °C and heat-resistant up to 205 °C, with good sliding properties for routing inside the handlebar.

PCB

SMD electronics

Proprietary power controllers PCU-5 and PCU-5TC, waterproof to IP67.
