About CORDENKA
The CORDENKA GmbH, based in Obernburg am Main, is a manufacturer of industrially produced rayon fibers, which are sold worldwide under the CORDENKA brand name. At the core of production is the manufacture of bio-based technical viscose filament yarns from the renewable raw material cellulose in a multi-stage spinning process. The spun yarns are processed into fabrics in the company's own converting operation, which are primarily used as ply reinforcement in tires. In addition, the yarns and fabrics are used as reinforcement material in hoses and other industrial applications; Cordenka also processes polyamide and polyester yarns into impregnated fabrics as contract work. Further products include cut-short fibers made from CORDENKA® rayon for reinforcements in fiber-reinforced plastics as well as compostable greenhouse yarns for horticulture. Sodium sulfate is produced as a by-product, which is sold to the detergent and glass industries. Cordenka employs around 500 people at sites in Obernburg am Main, Mühlhausen/Thuringia and Gorzów (Poland).
