About CRACO

CRACO GmbH from Atzelgift in the Westerwald region is a family-owned, owner-managed company and provider of wear protection solutions for machines and systems. The company manufactures wear parts such as hammers, buckets/shovels, weld-in, underscrew, delta and pointed knives as well as custom constructions from the in-house developed special fine-grain steel CRACOX, which is kept in stock in five qualities and thicknesses from 3 to 120 mm. Production includes mechanical machining such as drilling, milling, fine finishing, roughing and spindle work on climate-controlled machining centres for heavy-duty machining, cutting on plasma, oxy-fuel and laser cutting systems, bending with CNC press brakes up to 2,600 t of press force, and welding using MAG, TIG and manual arc processes. In addition to new production, CRACO regenerates worn machines and systems, applies hardfacing armouring, and offers installation, assembly as well as pickup and delivery service with its own vehicle fleet. Constructions are created with 3D software and FEM analyses; an in-house database with more than 90,000 drawings for over 3,500 machines and systems supports remanufacturing. Customers come primarily from raw material extraction, construction rubble, recyclables, metal and wood recycling, as well as civil engineering and component and plant engineering. Around 8,000 t of wear steel are processed per year.

Quality Assurance

CRACO continuously tests incoming raw materials and semi-finished products as well as outgoing goods inspection by means of spectral analysis of alloying constituents, hardness testing, metallography and dye penetrant testing. Machine guide rails are regularly re-measured to 1/1000 mm in order to maintain very tight tolerances.
