Refining plant-based raw materials into functional starch and protein ingredients and industrial adhesives
Crespel & Deiters GmbH & Co. KG

Refining renewable raw materials since 1858
Crespel & Deiters is an industrial company founded in Ibbenbüren in 1858 and family-owned in its sixth generation, refining renewable plant-based raw materials into functional starch and protein products. The portfolio comprises multifunctional starch- and protein-based food ingredients for the food industry as well as high-performance functional adhesives for industrial solutions with a focus on the paper processing industry. Refinement takes place via four core technologies: extrusion (at the Innovation Center in Helmond with a lab extruder), physical and chemical starch modification, protein hydrolysis, and blending into ready-to-use adhesive systems in batch processes. At the Ibbenbüren headquarters, wheat flour is mixed with water into dough and separated into starch, protein, fiber and extract fractions through sieving, centrifugation and evaporation. Processed raw materials include wheat (largest share), pea, pumpkin, rice, corn, field bean, potato, milk and whey. Customers include the food, petfood and feed industries as well as the paper processing industry (corrugated board, laminate, honeycomb); around 450 employees work at the production sites and in the worldwide sales network.

History
- 1858
Foundation of the starch factory in Ibbenbüren by Ludwig Alexander Crespel; today managed in the sixth family generation.
- 1939
During the Second World War, production of nutrient-rich wheat starch (including the WEIZOMALT brand) to secure food supply; no forced laborers were employed.
