About Crino
Crino GmbH is a battery testing solutions company founded in 2019 as a spin-off of the Technical University of Munich. The company manufactures and supplies test hardware for the characterization and quality control of battery cells, including a microcalorimeter (MIC) with microwatt sensitivity, a Thermal Socket (TS) for thermal testing at cell level, and a Cell Tester (CT) for high-precision charge/discharge cycling with AI-based anomaly detection. In addition, Crino develops the test management software Crino Testing Platform, which is deployed on-premise and combines test plans, measurement campaigns and data evaluation in a web interface. The service offering includes cell aging under realistic package conditions, complete cell characterization (calorimetry, entropy, OCV hysteresis, High Precision Coulometry), custom test bench development, and end-of-line, incoming inspection and series validation testing. Customers come from battery and cell production, the automotive industry and the energy storage sector. The company is based in Munich, where the test field with more than 200 test channels and ten climate chambers is also located.

Processes and Testing Methods
Microcalorimetry
Non-destructive screening of production cells with microwatt sensitivity, among other things for detecting internal short circuits and parasitic reactions.
Thermal Socket
Simulates passive pack materials, active cooling circuits or dynamic thermal profiles at the single-cell level.
Cell Tester
High-precision charge/discharge cycling with AI-based anomaly detection directly on the hardware.
High Precision Coulometry
Measurements up to 1200 A at cell level with 2 kW cooling capacity.
Custom Test Bench Construction
Test bench design matched to cell format and requirements, including integration of third-party components and sensors from formation to recycling.
