About DEA Deutsche Erdöl AG
DEA Deutsche Erdöl AG was an internationally active oil and gas company headquartered in Hamburg. As an exploration and production company (E&P), it explored for and produced oil and natural gas and operated underground gas storage facilities in Germany. The company applied geoscience expertise as well as modern drilling and production techniques and placed great emphasis on safe, environmentally sound and sustainable extraction. DEA pursued a regionally focused growth strategy through the acquisition of licences and stakes in core regions. In May 2019, DEA merged with Wintershall to form Wintershall Dea GmbH; DEA Deutsche Erdöl AG was dissolved or renamed in the course of this merger.
