About DEHN

DEHN is a family-owned electrical engineering company headquartered in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, now run by the fourth generation since its founding in Nuremberg in 1910. The DEHNgroup develops and manufactures over 4,000 devices and components in the fields of external and internal lightning protection, surge protection, earthing and safety technology for people working on electrical installations, including arc-fault protective clothing and surge protective devices for AC and DC applications. Its proprietary technologies include ACI (Advanced Circuit Interruption) with an integrated switch-spark-gap combination, RAC switch choke technology, actiVsense and LifeCheck. The portfolio is complemented by DEHN Engineering Services: lightning risk analyses, lightning protection and surge protection planning including 3D planning, earthing design, soil resistivity measurements, 3D laser scanning and simulations. Customers come from the energy supply sector, photovoltaics, wind energy, mobile communications (cell sites), oil and gas, industrial automation, battery storage, e-mobility and building technology. With around 2,500 employees worldwide, more than 900 patents and 22 foreign subsidiaries, the DEHNgroup generates revenue of approx. €465 million (fiscal year 2024/2025) and supplies over 70 countries.

Technologies & Materials

ACI

ACI technology (Advanced Circuit Interruption)

Integrated switch/spark-gap combination in surge arresters makes an external upstream fuse superfluous.

RAC

RAC spark gap technology (Rapid Arc Control)

Quickly limits follow currents, thereby relieving arresters and upstream fuses.

HVI

HVI conductor

High-voltage-resistant, insulated lightning current conductor with copper core for installation without separation distance up to 200 kA lightning current.

actiVsense

actiVsense

Automatic detection of the signal voltage for universally applicable combination arresters in information technology.

LifeCheck

LifeCheck

Permanent condition monitoring of arresters detects electrical and thermal stress on the protective components.

DCD

DCD (Direct Current Disconnection)

Reliable disconnection in DC applications prevents fires caused by DC switching arcs, e.g. in DEHNguard SE DC.

Al

Aluminium

Housing material of the waterproof IP66 surge protective device DEHNpatch outdoor.

Cu

Copper

Lightning-current-carrying conductor material of the HVI Conductor and standard material for connection cross-sections.
