About DEK-Berlin
DEK Deutsche Extrakt Kaffee GmbH (DEK-Berlin) was founded in 1969 and is today one of eight production plants of the owner-managed CAFEA Group headquartered in Hamburg. At its Berlin-Britz site, the company has been producing liquid coffee extracts as well as spray-dried and agglomerated soluble coffees for over 50 years. Processing runs from roasted green coffee (Coffea arabica, Coffea robusta) via the specially developed fresh-brewing process and evaporation to concentrate, through to spray drying and agglomeration; the products are then filled into chilled or deep-frozen bulk containers. Production runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and also includes decaffeinated and certified varieties (BIO, Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance, Halal, Kosher). Customers include food retail (private label), the food, dairy, confectionery and beverage industries, flavor manufacturers, industrial bakeries and the vending market. A combined heat and power plant generates the site's own electricity and process heat.
