About Designwerk
Designwerk Technologies AG is a Swiss e-mobility company and a member of the Volvo Group. At its own plant, electric trucks from 18 to 50 tonnes with up to 680 hp and ranges of up to 730 km are manufactured. The portfolio also includes modular high-voltage battery systems with capacities of 37 to 250 kWh and voltage levels up to 800 V based on prismatic lithium-ion cells (NMC and LFP) with aluminium housings and liquid-based cooling. In addition, Designwerk produces charging technology ranging from mobile DC fast chargers with 22 to 88 kW up to stationary battery-buffered mega chargers with 350 kW to 1.7 MW. The contract development division accompanies customer projects from the concept study through industrial design to the prototype, including custom battery systems for commercial vehicles, rail vehicles, watercraft, airport equipment and construction machinery. The offering is rounded out by battery take-back, second-life assessment and recycling, as well as a service network in Switzerland, Germany, Liechtenstein and Norway.

Materials & Cell Chemistries
Lithium-ion NMC (prismatic cells)
Prismatic NMC cells with high energy density (up to 188 Wh/kg at system level) for high-voltage battery systems in e-trucks and watercraft.
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP)
LFP cell chemistry with high cycle durability for vehicles with high annual mileage, free of cobalt and nickel.
Aluminium (battery housings)
Aluminium housings with IP69K protection class and all-sided, fire-retardant thermal insulation.
Water-glycol mixture 50:50
Liquid cooling to keep the battery modules within the ideal temperature range.
