About Desktop Metal
Desktop Metal was founded in 2015 to make metal 3D printing accessible to engineers, designers, medical professionals, and manufacturers. The company develops and manufactures additive manufacturing systems, specifically Binder Jetting (BJT) for metals, ceramics, and molding sands, and Digital Light Processing (DLP) for polymers. The product portfolio includes the Shop System™ for batch production of dense metal parts, the desktop-friendly Studio System™ (Bound Metal Deposition), the X-Series with Triple-ACT technology, the Production System P-50, the S-Max Flex sand printer from ExOne, the Xtreme 8K DLP printer from ETEC, and the PureSinter™ vacuum sintering furnace. The material library includes over 250 materials, ranging from stainless steels, tool steels, and aluminum to nickel alloys, titanium, copper, precious metals, ceramics, elastomers, and composites such as PEKK with carbon fiber. Customers come from industries such as heavy industry, mechanical engineering, energy and oil & gas, food processing, automotive, healthcare, and research. The headquarters is located in Burlington, Massachusetts; a distribution network with over 200 partners spans more than 65 countries.
