About Destillerie Freihof
The Destillerie Freihof GmbH is a family business founded in 1885 in Lustenau, Vorarlberg, today run in the fifth generation by Johann J. Drexel. Originating from an inn with a cider pressery and schnapps distillery, the product range includes fine brandies, schnapps and liqueurs made to the company's own recipes — including the brands Freihof 1885, the Privatbrennerei Gebhard Hämmerle with the Hämmerle, Herzstück and Private Reserve lines, Mirtillo, edelweiss – the Alpine Vodka, Wiener Mocca, Vintage Vermouth Vreimuth, Entendusel and Jagertee. Distilling takes place, among other methods, in copper stills, partly double-distilled; fine brandies mature in wooden barrels. Natural raw materials such as fruit (Williams Christ pears, blueberries, blood oranges), rye, spelt, Alpine herbs, black tea, rum and spices are processed, without artificial flavourings and colourings. Bottling and labelling are done by hand. The products are market leaders in Austria and are represented, among others, in the USA, Canada, England and Germany; cooperatives exist with, among others, the Vienna coffee roastery Naber, the BIO winery Fidesser and the traditional embroidery company Hämmerle & Vogel.
