About Dethleffs
Dethleffs GmbH & Co. KG is a manufacturer of caravans, motorhomes and camper vans based in Isny im Allgäu. The company was founded in 1832 as a whip manufactory; in 1931, company founder Arist Dethleffs designed Germany's first caravan, the so-called "Wohnauto" (motor home). Since 1958 the company has produced exclusively leisure vehicles, and since 1977 also motorhomes on a series-production basis. At its headquarters in Isny, on a factory site of around 283,000 m², caravans and motorhomes of the Dethleffs brand as well as camper vans and urban vehicles for the Pössl and Crosscamp brands are developed, assembled and painted; an in-house service center handles maintenance, repair and servicing. In the "Reiseziel Zukunft" (Destination Future) initiative, Dethleffs develops electrically powered vehicle concepts (e.home Caravan, e.home eco, c.fold, c.core) and relies on lightweight and sustainable materials such as Alucore, Necto®, recycled PET and flax. The company belongs to the Erwin Hymer Group, a 100-percent subsidiary of Thor Industries.
