About Diabakus
Diabakus GmbH was founded in 2026 by Janina Brechtel and Christoph Taegert-Kilger in Freimersheim (Rhineland-Palatinate). The company is developing a Digital Health Application (DiGA) that, as a Class IIb medical device, is intended to support people with insulin-requiring diabetes in everyday life. The app 'on prescription' provides proactive, meal-related therapy support including bolus calculation. The idea arose from the managing director's personal experience with diabetes. The two-person team combines the patient perspective with over 30 years of experience in medical device development, including regulatory affairs and quality management. The company is supported by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate through the Life Science Center Mainz and the BIC, and is seeking partnerships with manufacturers of blood glucose meters and insulin delivery devices, as well as with practices, hospitals and patient associations.
