About Die Køje
Die Køje is a Swiss stone pine bed manufactory from Bludenz in Vorarlberg, Austria. The company with around 20 employees produces beds, wardrobes, chests of drawers, bedside tables, children's furniture (baby cradle Jølle, cot Kajüte, side bed), bedding as well as small gift items from Swiss stone pine entirely in its own production. Only regional, untreated Swiss stone pine wood (Swiss pine) from Tyrol, South Tyrol and Styria is used, almost entirely from the Austrian Federal Forests. Production includes sawing on a multi-blade saw, planing, CNC milling of millimetre-precise joints and slots, gluing with water-based glue, final sanding, complete assembly and quality inspection before delivery. Typical features are knot-free surfaces, metal-free constructions with proprietary screws made of ash or maple wood, and complete wood utilisation down to chips and briquettes for the factory heating. Production takes place at the Klarenbrunn factory, an approximately 130-year-old revitalised former spinning mill, with its own PV system (588 panels) and plastic-free shipping in reusable wooden boxes. Delivery and assembly are carried out personally; in addition, there is a showroom in Bad Münstereifel (Eifel) as well as an own sleep system made of natural rubber, hornbeam, sheep's wool and cotton.
