About Die Zuckerlwerkstatt
Die Zuckerlwerkstatt GmbH produces handmade bonbons and sugar confectionery from pure crystal sugar and natural ingredients, 95% of which come from Austria. Everything is made 100% by hand using a roughly 150-year-old craft technique, working only with spatulas and scissors: motif candies with images and lettering, vegan fruit jellies, silk candies, glass-sugar drops, Viennese rolled candies made on restored original embossing rollers from 1910, Viennese caramel, as well as lollipops and candy canes. In addition, personalised promotional bonbons with company logos, individual candy mixes and personalised packaging are produced, for example for events, weddings and occasions such as the Vienna Opera Ball. Production takes place daily in public demonstration manufactories where visitors can watch the products being made. Locations include two manufactories in Vienna (Führichgasse and Herrengasse), shops and an office, as well as a demonstration manufactory in the Palais Kuenburg-Langenhof in the old town of Salzburg. The company, founded in 2013 by Maria and Christian, revived the Viennese bonbon craft, which was world-famous around 1900 but had died out by the mid-20th century.
